About Us
Whitewater Valley Pro Bono Commission was founded in 2002 to assist low-income individuals in Wayne and surrounding counties with their civil legal needs. We do not assist with criminal matters or matters in which there is some chance of a fee recovery, such as personal injury.
We have an intake process to protect both applicants and attorneys. Once an application has been submitted, a conflicts check takes place to ensure that there are no conflicts of interest in representing the applicant. A response to a completed application is generally received in 7-10 business days. Incomplete applications, or illegible applications, will not receive a response in this time frame.

Additionally, the Commission provides support services to its attorney volunteers by offering free legal training.
Our Board of Directors includes attorneys, business leaders, and philanthropists from Richmond and who otherwise have a connection with and passion for Richmond and pro bono legal services.

"My experience with the Whitewater Valley Pro Bono Commission was a positive one as I was coming out of an abusive marriage. I needed someone to be on my side for custody of my children and they were very involved, very understanding, and very supportive. I would recommend them to anyone. If it weren't for Whitewater Valley Pro Bono Commission my children would have possibly been in harms way, and may not even be here."
