Whitewater Valley Pro Bono Commission was founded in 2002 to assist low-income individuals with civil legal needs.  We do not assist with criminal matters or matters in which there is some chance of a fee recovery such as medical malpractice, products liability, etc.

In addition to client intake and advice and referral to pro bono attorneys, our organization provides support services to its attorney volunteers by offering free legal training. An annual luncheon is held to honor attorneys who have provided free legal services through Whitewater Valley Pro Bono Commission.

Whitewater Valley Pro Bono is staffed by Shane R. Edington, Attorney Administrator, who has been licensed to practice Law in the state of Indiana for over 17 years. His legal assistant is Vicki Parks.

Our Board of Directors has grown and now consists of several persons who are still wanting to contribute to the citizens of Wayne County even though they are no longer here in the area.

We have an intake process to protect both applicants and attorneys. Once an application has been submitted, a conflicts check takes place to ensure that there are no conflicts of interest in representing the applicant. A written response to a completed application is generally received in 5-7 business days. Incomplete applications, or illegible applications, will not receive a response in the afore-mentioned time frame.

You can fax us the application to (888)249-2941. Or you can mail it to us at 50 North 5th Street, Richmond, IN 47374. Or simply drop it off at the Richmond City Building on the third floor at the end of the southern corridor.

The need for our services is genuine and substantial. Please consider making a donation via our Pay-Pal link later on this page.
